Weekly markets

The weekly bazaars or markets are an integral part of the life in Antalya and offer a wonderful shopping experience. Depending on the size of the market, the district and seasonal food, textiles and household goods are offered. On the main surface of the market are mostly found the professional seller called "Pazarcı", the village women, who sell their own manufactured goods are sitting outside at the floor around the main market. The quality in the two areas is different and also the statement "hormonsuz" (without hormone) and "ilaçsız" (without pesticide) you should'nt believe everything. Nevertheless, the weekly markets offer a huge selection of spices, fruits, vegetables and all sorts of trinkets for the best prices.

The best way to do the weekly shopping is even running through the market to gain an overview and to ask for the prices. Then you can shop in peace at the best and cheapest stands. Although it is customary in Turkey to bargain in the markets, but you should consider whether it is desirable eg for 1 lira for a kilo of tomatoes, stealing the distributor to time. For larger quantities, or higher prices it is worth it and is completely legitimate.
